Screenwriting is hard, isn’t it?

Sitting alone in a dark room, bleeding on the page, trying to translate the movie you see so clearly in your head into words that make sense.

But after you finally type FADE OUT, what’s next? How do you know your script is ready to show people?

For that matter, who the heck do you show it to?

Unlike other screenwriting services, I’m not going to make promises I can’t keep. I can’t guarantee that you’ll sell your screenplay. I can’t promise you a million-dollar holding deal and all the champagne you can drink. I can’t promise you a Hollywood career.

Heck, it IS my career, and I can’t even promise myself any of that.

What I can promise is a dedicated reader with over a decade of experience in screenwriting, producing, comedy writing, and screenplay coverage. A reader who has been featured on the Black List. Who has won multiple screenwriting competitions, including Script Pipeline, Shore Scripts, and the Tracking Board Launch Pad. Who has optioned scripts and been hired to write and produce multiple films.

All I can really promise is I will give you clear and actionable notes that won’t cost you an arm and a leg. Notes to make your screenplay the best it can be and help guide you on the uphill climb that is the Hollywood screenwriting industry.

Let’s get to the top of that hill. Together.

Who Am I?

Brian T Arnold wearing glasses with short hair and a red shirt, greenery in the background.

My name is Brian T. Arnold, and I’m a screenwriter and producer in Los Angeles, California.

Okay, yeah, but who am I to be asking you to pay me for notes on your screenplays?

That’s fair. That’s a fair question.

I know how hard it is to break into Hollywood as a screenwriter because I’ve done it. I grew up in small-town West Virginia with no connection to the film industry. Hollywood might as well have been on the moon. My dreams felt that far away.

I knew if I wanted to be a screenwriter, I was going to have to write my way in. I started writing (terrible) screenplays in high school. I bought any book I could find on how to write a script, and I taught myself how to do this.

After college, I moved to Los Angeles, and while I continued to practice my craft in a vacuum, I studied improv and sketch comedy at places like the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, The Groundlings, and The Pack, some of the most prestigious comedy institutions in the world.

I wrote for a sketch team at iO West and for the CBS Diversity Comedy Sketch Showcase.

I interned at a production company, writing screenplay coverage and notes.

I judged screenplays for various competitions.

I co-wrote, produced, and acted in OPEN HOUSES, a web series featured on Funny Or Die and Stareable.

And finally, after years of work, I won a screenwriting competition, got signed with a manager and an agent, and then, after all of that… Very little happened for me.

My script didn’t sell. My agents dropped me. I fired my managers.

In screenwriting terms, this was the all is lost moment.

It was time to give up or start over.

So I started over.

I wrote a new script and, this time, I didn’t win a screenwriting contest…

I won three.

I signed with new managers, new agents, optioned my screenplay, appeared on the Black List, joined the WGA, and have been hired to write and produce several more features.

And now, I’m bringing my years of writing experience to After Fade Out.

If you’re ready to get to work, I hope you trust me to help you get your screenplay to the next level.
